Abstract
This study is based on a qualitative interview with a teacher and a director of a public day care center involved in child abuse. Their involvement in child abuse (overall experience, case judgement process, and follow-up measures), perception of the cause of child abuse by day care center teachers, follow-up measures to prevent and eliminate child abuse, and need for counseling were examined in depth. A total of 35 significant categories were found in 23 domains under four subjects. They included overall experience of involvement in a child abuse case of the teacher and the director, their experience of child abuse case judgement process, follow-up measures after the judgement, perception of the cause of child abuse by day care center teachers, need for counseling regarding child abuse, and necessary measures to prevent and eliminate child abuse by day care center teachers. Implications and follow-up studies were provided and suggested based on the findings to prevent and eliminate child abuse by day care center teachers.
